Early in his career Espinosa received a performing scholarship with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Mexico, which included tours through the Far East and Europe. This experience influenced deeply his views on orchestration, philosophical approach to new music and the creation of cultural environments.

In 2011, Dr. Espinosa was invited to participate in the Exhibition “The Splendor of Truth, the Beauty of Charity” dedicated to Pope Benedict XVI at the Paul VI Hall of the Vatican Museums (July 4th to September 4th, 2011) as a celebration of His Holiness priestly ordination and following the meeting with the artists celebrated at the Sistine Chapel in 2009.

Leandro was also invited to the Oxford round table, The Forum on Public Policy to discuss his paper "Approaching A Possible Redefinition Of The Arts And Sciences: The Union Of The Two Cultures" in 2006. The Journal of the Oxford Round Table seeks to disseminate knowledge with regard to salient issues in public affairs.  This includes research and policy advancement in both the public and private sectors that address government issues at state, national and international levels of discourse. His paper on Music and Culture can be viewed here: Oxford Round Table paper.
